Full Moon on Chinese New Year

zoomed at 24x.
zoomed at 30x.

View all 7 photos...
Despite some light haze, I took some shots of the beautiful rock off Earth. They are shot at different exposures, speeds and ISOs. Craters are not so sharp due to the haze.

The radiating spot on the white surface towards the North-East is called Tycho/Clavius South located on the Southern Hemisphere. Refer The Lunar Navigator for anatomy of the moon.

The full moon falls on the 16th day of the Lunar calendar which is 13th on the Gregorian calendar for February. Check out the calendar reference at Custom Sunrise Sunset Calendar.

The last two images in which the Tycho faces the South-West were captured in the morning of the 14th at about 0630 hours.

Adding salt to wound

Along LDP from One Utama towards Kepong toll is usually a bumper-to-bumper crawl and very frequently you can expect your vehicle to be momentarily stationary. In times like this, messages like "be patient", "heavy traffic ahead" would be most appropriate, not like the one posted on that screen.

Translated is "comfy route to Kepong, safe to destination".

I can't help but ponder why do the LDP authorities have to take ages to update the message? I'm sure the cameras are working.

Photos captured from 15th Floor condo unit at Perdana Emerald Condominium in Damansara Perdana. The Curve is located just across an empty land (destined for a bungalow housing project) from the condo. The fireworks were aimed at the area above the land.

Xmas Eve Dinner & Beijing Erguotou Spirits

Note the 52%

View all 6 photos...
A friend brought back a quality spirit (as in liquor) from China. Colour is transparent just like water. That stuff is potent at 52%. For some reason, it cured my sore throat that night. One l'il (teaspoon) gulp felt like "dragon's breath".

It has a web site: http://niulanshan.com.cn/. Wait for the Flash to complete, then select your language.

Keywords: liquor, spirits, erguotou, beijing, xmas eve

OK. I'm interested, especially since "..it cured my sore throat that night" I tried Gao-Liang before.. I think its about >50% alcohol as well.. yupe ... hard to swallow Thu 9-Feb-2006 06:22
